Vietnamese cuisine is the world’s 13TH favourite.
Vietnamese cuisine ranked #13 with a 55 percent approval rating among those surveyed, just ahead of ethnic cuisine from Honk Kong, Germany, British, and Taiwan. Although Vietnamese cuisine’s considered one of the healthiest and certainly one of the more balanced, it appears the sense of familiarity is not quite there like it is in other parts of the world or with other cuisines.
This is what Vietnamese people prefer in ethnic cuisine.
The Vietnamese individuals surveyed, asking strictly the Vietnamese what ethnic cuisine they enjoy, the results showed Vietnamese cuisine ranked as favourite with a 96 percent approval rating, followed closely by Japanese cuisine (81 percent approval), Korean cuisine (81 percent approval), Thai cuisine (75 percent approval), and Chinese cuisine (73 percent approval).
The world’s least favourite cuisine is Peruvian.
Falling last on the survey list of favourite ethnic cuisines in the world was Peruvian with only a 32 percent approval rating. The staples of Peruvian cuisine include corn, potatoes, quinoa, and legumes. Native Peruvian cuisine ingredients and techniques rely on quinoa, kiwicha, chili peppers, and roots. Despite being referred to as one of the world’s most important cuisines, Peruvian is still one that the world seemingly is learning about.
Pizza and pasta are the world’s favourite foods.
The diversity of pizza and pasta are well understood. Both pulled from predominantly Italian ingredients and an Italian background, you’d be challenged to find anywhere in the world which is not carrying some version of one of the two.
The harshest food critics are the Japanese.
According to this study, the Japanese are some of the least satisfied diners in the world. On average, only 39 percent of Japanese people who had tried foreign food reported liking it. Japanese survey respondents proved to be harsh judges of several foreign cuisines, although maintained an approval rating of their own cuisine at 94 percent.
