We've just recently opened our 4th location in Woodbridge and we know there are people in the community who have yet to try our Pho. This blog is meant to convince you why you should order Pho from us when you're looking for Pho near me in Woodbridge.

What is Pho?

Pho is a rice noodle soup that is often served with beef or chicken. It originates from Vietnam and is now popular all over the world. Pho soup broth is made by simmering beef or chicken bones, spices, and herbs for hours. The result is a healthy, flavorful, and comforting soup. Overall, it's a fantastic dish that even celebrities enjoy! The late Anthony Bourdain once said, "For me, a good bowl of Pho always makes me happy". This is actually on our walls at our Dufferin Street location. "It's my ultimate go-to," Macklemore told Bon Appetit.com "I never leave a pho experience regretting my meal." and we couldn't agree more!

10 Things You Should Know about Eating in Vietnam.

What is the dining etiquette in Vietnam? The Vietnamese culture has a rich and diverse culinary tradition. The country's cuisine is known for its fresh herbs, fish sauce, rice noodles, broth-based soups and French influences. Vietnam has over 3000 years of recorded history that includes the introduction of new ingredients such as soy sauce from China. It's no wonder that this blend of flavours makes for some amazing dishes! Here are 10 things you should know about eating in Vietnam.

1. Noodles are a must-have!

Vietnamese cuisine is famous for its noodle dishes, but rice noodles are the most common in northern Vietnamese food while wheat and egg noodles are more likely to be found in southern Vietnamese food. They're typically made from rice, mung beans, tapioca or a combination of these.

2. Pho is the most famous Vietnamese dish.

It's a soup with rice noodles, typically served with beef or chicken on top. The dish even has its own dedicated Wikipedia page! Pho originated in the early 20th century in northern Vietnam and today it's considered one of the country's national dishes.

3. It's customary to share food with friends and family members.

This creates a sense of community where everyone contributes around the table, but it also allows you to try several dishes at once! Vietnamese often eat out in communal spaces such as streetside cafes or market stalls. This can be difficult for Westerners who are used to eating at individual tables, but it's a great way to make friends with locals.

4. Be aware of your chopstick etiquette!

It's considered rude to point or play with your chopsticks when using them in Vietnamese food. Only the person who is currently eating should touch his/her chopsticks, and never stick them vertically inside your bowl of rice as it resembles incense sticks being held at a temple.

5. Banh mi is a popular sandwich.

This French-influenced dish usually contains pâté, cucumber and meat such as pork or chicken which is seasoned with fish sauce, garlic and black pepper among other things. It's a great way to try some of the unique flavours of Vietnamese cuisine.

6. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

If you're not sure how to eat a particular dish, don't be afraid to ask your waiter or another diner for help. They'll be more than happy to show you how it's done!

7. Use the herb plate for seasoning.

Many Vietnamese dishes are heavily seasoned with fresh herbs such as cilantro, mint and Thai basil. There should be a small plate of herbs provided at your table which you can use to season your food to taste.

8. Don't waste food!

In Vietnam, it's considered a bad form to waste food as there are people who would be grateful to have it. If you're not sure about a dish, make sure you at least take a few bites!

9. If you're not a fan of spicy food, be careful!

Many Vietnamese dishes are very spicy due to the liberal use of chilli peppers in cooking.

10. Follow the lead of your fellow diners.

When dining with a group, everyone will have a different pace at which they eat and entertain their guests. It's fine to go faster or slower than others, but be sure to follow what those around you are doing so as not to cause offence!

In the end, the most important thing to remember is to be open-minded and have fun when dining in Vietnam or at a Vietnamese restaurant! The food is delicious, and the company is sure to be good.

The cat is officially out of the bag! Toronto Pho's newest home is 5100 Rutherford Road in Woodbridge. We're almost done with our renovations, and if these restrictions don't change we could open as soon as January. We are aiming for January 20th, but keep up with us on social media to stay informed. We're still counting down the days until we can really open our doors, but until then, we've put up a list of the most essential tries in Toronto Pho Woodbridge.

House Special Pho

Our House Special Pho also known as Pho Dac Biet This is a special Vietnamese dish that gives you the best of both (all) worlds and literally translates into "Special Pho". It contains all of the classic ingredients including rare steak, well-done flank, beef balls, tendon, and tripe. This is served with our delicious broth that is slow-simmered for hours with charred onion, ginger, and anise which give it a robust and complex flavour. The perfect bowl of soup to keep you warm on a cold winter day. We highly recommend you try a bowl as soon as you can. It's true comfort in a bowl.

Butter Chicken Wings

Yes, you read that correctly. Butter chicken, but on wings. This was a flavour combination we didn't know needed to exist. It has been at every football night throughout the years since its inception. The ideal companion for a cold beer. Our wings come in 4 other flavours but these Butter chicken wings take the cake. Perfectly crispy, made hot to order every time and drenched in our signature butter chicken sauce. A Woodbridge must-try!

Pad Thai - Any kind.

We became known for our Pad Thai earlier last year, even though we are a Pho restaurant. We can't blame customers for loving it so much, our Pad Thai is genuinely excellent. It has several features that set it apart from the crowd. To begin, it's SO SAUCY and not as dry as traditional pad Thai. So if the sauce isn't your thing, skip to the next dish. Secondly, we really big pieces of fried tofu that we make in-house. Customers frequently request extra tofu, regardless of whether they are vegan or vegetarian. Meat-eaters who just want to try the dish often ask for extra tofu. The tofu takes center stage in this dish, absorbing all of the pad Thai sauce. Lastly, our peanuts are all roasted in-house and provide a wonderful touch of flavour to the dish.

You can try our pad Thai with, shrimp, chicken, chicken & shrimp, or just tofu. We have a feeling Woodbridge customers will love all variations of this dish.

Va Va Viet

Step aside, Tim Hortons, there's a new sheriff in town. We've been selling Va Va Viet - The Iced Viet Coffee Slushie since the summer and it's been a hit! The name was chosen by an Instagram user as part of a contest we held for it. Imagine a smoother Tim Horton's icecap but with a more robust coffee taste. If you're an ice coffee lover you will NEED to try this. We've heard some hilarious tales of the lengths to which our clients have gone in order to obtain some. One of our customers bought 20 in bulk and froze them at her cottage! She simply couldn't survive without it every day. We have a feeling once our Woodbridge customers get their hands on a cup they will have the same feeling towards it.

We hope those 4 items have you excited as we are to open our doors in Woodbridge. If you're looking for Vietnamese food near you, look no further than Toronto Pho Woodbridge! Pho lovers, you're welcome. We can't wait to see everyone in the new year enjoying pho and other Toronto Pho favourites.

Until then, check out our social media pages to stay updated.

Ontario Restaurant Restrictions

We hate to be the bearer of bad news but on Friday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford welcomed constituents to another edition of COVID-19 lockdown, with the announcement of a new list of limitations that will take effect provincewide at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, December 19th.

When do new Covid restrictions start in Ontario?

Starting at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, the gathering sizes will drop from 25 people to 10 people indoors, and the outdoor gathering limitations will be reduced to 25.

Ontario has restored capacity restrictions of 50 percent at most indoor settings throughout the province. This covers restaurants and bars, personal care businesses, retail chains, and shopping malls.

Bars, restaurants, and strip clubs will be ordered to close at 11 p.m., with the exception of take-out and delivery services.

The permitted number of people to sit at a table is 10, and patrons will be asked to remain seated in restaurants, bars, and other food or drink businesses.

Dancing and singing are prohibited. Workers or performers are the only people who may sing and dance.

The government has issued a complete shutdown of food and beverage services at sporting events, concert venues, theatres, cinemas, casinos, bingo halls, and other gaming sites.

Ugh, we know this one totally ruined New Years Eve but yes...After 10 p.m., alcohol sales will be limited.

The government adds that any part of a business used for a wedding, funeral, or religious service, ritual, or ceremony is not subject to the following limitations.

According to CTV News Toronto, the Ontario government expects to post 6,000 COVID-19 readings per day by the end of the weekend.

"While our intensive care units remain stable, we expect the number of admissions to grow as more people catch COVID-19, particularity the unvaccinated," Premier Doug Ford said Friday.

Ford Also announced that starting next Monday, people 18 and older will be able to get COVID-19 booster shots.

The time between a person's second dose and booster shot was reduced from six months to three months.

The province also said it would restrict capacity in some indoor spaces with more than 1,000 people to 50 percent.

"I know you are tired," Ford said. "Over the last 20 months, you have been asked to sacrifice so much. We've all dug so deep and now we need to dig a little deeper. We'll get through this."

What precautions can be taken in food services to prevent COVID-19?

In foodservice operations and meal facilities:

• follow safe operations guidance from your local public health authority

• Wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

• The use of masks when handling food.

• Avoid serving food and beverages buffet style, if possible

• If you must line up for services, make sure that individuals maintain at least 2 meters between them.

• If you're delivering or displaying food items, wrap or package them separately.

• Promote "no sharing" precautions, such as utensils or condiments.

• Make sure that restaurant employees have access to and wear the proper PPE when collecting or cleaning used plates, cups, and utensils, or when delivering food.

• Encourage patrons to return food service utensils or take-out/delivery items in their original closed packages.
